What is a Therm-a-Rest?
A Therm-a-Rest is the self-inflating sleeping pad we invented in 1972 — open-cell foam sealed in an airtight shell with a valve. Today the name covers our whole sleep system: NeoAir air pads, foam pads, camping mattresses, down sleeping bags, quilts, pillows and Honcho Ponchos.
Who makes Therm-a-Rest?
We do, as part of Cascade Designs in Seattle, Washington. Three former Boeing engineers who loved mountaineering started us after a night on a cold, hard foam mat; we're still based in Seattle and still make most of our pads there.
How long should I leave a new self-inflating pad open?
Two to four hours before the first trip. The foam has been compressed in the box and needs time to expand fully.
Can I store my pad rolled up?
Short term, yes. For long storage keep it flat or loosely rolled with the valve open, somewhere dry — under a bed or in a closet works well.
Which pillow nests into a mummy hood?
All Air Head pillows are shaped to sit inside the hood of a mummy sleeping bag so they don't slide away.
What's the difference between WingLock and TwinLock valves?
WingLock is one valve with a one-way inflate setting and a fast dump setting. TwinLock has two dedicated ports, one for air in and one for air out.
Do I need a pump?
Every NeoAir pad comes with a pump sack. The NeoAir Micro Pump is a 2.3 oz battery option if you'd rather save your breath.
Can I wash my Compressible pillow?
Yes — machine wash warm on gentle and tumble dry; drying actually helps the foam regain loft.
Is a quilt warm enough without a sleeping bag?
It is when your pad is well insulated, because the quilt skips the back panel and relies on the pad underneath. Use the SynergyLink straps to keep it in place.
Where do I ask about an order?
On the order page of the store you bought from — it handles delivery, returns and warranty claims.
